Walt Disney Family Museum

I Took a trip up to San Fran this weekend, and made a stop at the Walt Disney Family Museum. It was my first time visiting, and it was absolutely incredible. I came out so inspired, that I did this drawing when I got home. It's amazing how much Walt accomplished in such a short time, he truly was a genius.

October 11 Second Club

October 11 Second Club from trent correy on Vimeo.

This is my entry for the October 11 Second Club. When I heard the audio at the beginning of the month, I knew I had to do it! I had just come off a long crunch at Disney on "Frozen", and hadn't done any 2D animation for over a year. I had recently finished re-reading "The Animation Survival Kit" and I was dying to pick up a pencil and try out some of the techniques. I made a conscious decision last year, that I wanted to commit myself 100% to learning CG while at Disney, and so I put my drawing aside.

I had so much fun doing this, I was constantly struggling and frustrated with myself, but at the same time, it was very relaxing and therapeutic. I realized how different both mediums really are, but at the same time, how all the same principles still apply. One of the main reasons I did the competition was to test out ToonBoom and see what it would be like to do a 2D animation from start to finish. Overall it was a great learning experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it:)

11 Second Club- Rough Animation from trent correy on Vimeo.

Here is my rough animation, quite a few things changed in timing and spacing as I tied it down. I needed to get this done rather quickly due to time constraints and kinda refined the design along the way. Felt nice to step away from the graph editor, but at the same time, I missed it SO much!

Lastly, these are the boards I did.
Thanks for checking out the blog! Anyone headed to CTN this year, I'll be there, let me know!

Bunny

Something I'm working on for fun, trying to get back into drawing. Used red col-erase, pen and marker to do these character studies...think I'll animate him now:)

Finished on "Frozen" in early August, it was a huge crunch, but all worth it to be part of such a beautiful movie. Then I was lucky enough to be involved in a "Olaf" short for the theme parks, specifically "World of Color" for Disneyland, California. I'll be moving onto BigHero 6 which is Disney's first Marvel adaption for a CG animated movie...exciting times!!!

Haven't really drawn too much over the past year, hopefully I can use this blog to inspire myself and draw more:) Anyone headed to CTN?

"Attack of the 50ft Hero"

"Attack of the 50ft Hero" Clip 2 from trent correy on Vimeo.

"Attack of the 50ft Hero"-Clip 2 from trent correy on Vimeo.

These are scenes I did during Eric Goldberg's master class last summer at LCAD. I was very fortunate to work with a group of really talented artists to produce this short film in 12 weeks. It was amazing to take a project from start to finish with such an amazing mentor as Eric Goldberg and the  help of Dave Kuhn and Dave Pruiksma. Of Corse, being surrounded by talented artists is the best way to learn, and what a great experience it was. The short was animated on paper, and all the post production work was completed with ToonBoom. It should be online soon, I'm looking forward to sharing it with more people. 6 MORE WEEKS on Frozen...crunch time!

"Attack of the 50ft Hero"

Hey! These are some character concepts I did while working on "Attack of the 50ft Hero" last summer. The top page is the final design and turn around, I collaborated on the main character with the talented Sierra Lewis, she came up with some gorgeous conceptual work and has an excellent design sense. The second page is full of monster sketches I did while searching for the right design and story. I'm very happy with the design we choose based off Sierra's original drawing, he was great fun to animate, I'll post some line tests in the coming months. For now, the film will be doing the festival circuit.

12 weeks of animation left on Frozen!

Animation!

Animation Reel from trent correy on Vimeo.

Hey all! It's been a long time since I've posted any animation. I've been super fortunate to work on a lot of great projects in the past year, and for the first time I have a full CG reel. Included is some work I did on Nickelodeons TMNT series, some work from Sony Pictures Imageworks on the Smurfs, and most recently some work I've completed at Disney Feature Animation in the Talent Development program. I am currently working as an Apprentice Animator on Disney's next feature "Frozen" due out in November 2013.
Thanks!
